I guess the original is “A lie can travel halfway around the world before the truth can get its boots on,” has been attributed to a lot of different sources, going back to Thomas Jefferson right up through Winston Churchill. I’ve seen this one numerous times , just the idea that the Republicans are going to be trying to chase down a lie that got started while they were asleep.
