Invite the 4 senators to a nice lunch. Thune pays. Then he plays hardball: “Okay here’s the deal. You guys get your azz in line or by the time you get back to your office, you will no longer be a committee chairman.”

He’s a perfect example of why the 17th Amendment needs to be repealed. The legislature would never send him for a second term.
