A British tourist was attacked and wounded by a sword-wielding martial arts instructor following an alleged confrontation with a local in Thailand.

The holidaymaker reportedly went on a rampage following a road rage incident with a motorcyclist on the resort island of Phuket on June 13.

He yelled at the motorist and allegedly threatened residents with an iron pipe before Muay Thai and sword-fighting instructor Waikoon Promsuwan, 50, confronted him at 11.30pm.

Chaotic footage of the incident shows the shirtless man holding the weapon as he taunted Waikoon and called him a 'p****'.

Waikoon then charged at him with a knife, slashing the tourist's arm.

The British man was later seen with his arm covered in blood while walking away.

Police said no official complaint had been filed yet, as the tourist had returned to the UK for further treatment.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Kanen Somrak of the Chalong Police Station said authorities were trying to reach the British man through diplomatic channels to obtain his statement.

The word “Amok” derives from the Malay word amuk, traditionally meaning “rushing in a frenzy” or “attacking furiously”

One needs to watch that with Thais, and particularly Malaysian/Indonesian muslims.

There is no steady escalation. If provoked, they go from calm/quiet, to insane, in an instant.

He yelled at the motorist

Maybe he was just asking for directions and yelled "Phuket" while pointing with his middle finger in the direction he thought the city center was.

British thug culture used to attacking unarmed people.
