The California Democratic Party made a post on social media that said, "You’re not allowed to watch the World Cup if you’ve ever voted against immigration," on Thursday.
The post has come under immense scrutiny, as Americans across the political spectrum prepare to cheer together for Team USA in its World Cup opener against Paraguay.
"Every one of those other Countries has its own immigration policy, where you can't just cross the border. The hypocrisy is crazy," one X user wrote.
Another user wrote, "Why? I don’t even understand the logic to this post."
Other harsh and sarcastic responses to the post went viral across X.

Special kind of stupid, these people are.
No problem
I am. Love the World Cup. But you and the rest of the grumpy old “stay off my lawn” gang can revel in your misery.
Uhhhhhhh....okay.
That's fine. I'm watching all the videos getting uploaded of Rush's "Fifty something" concert tour.
Anika Nilles is killing it on drums!
I guess she’s won the fans over.
She really has. I daresay she's become the star of the show.
Blasphemy, I get it. But you gotta watch the videos on X! She's nailing the gig! Sounds like freakin' artillery!
She totally breathed new life into the band and it shows on Alex and Geddy's faces. She was a very inspired choice for what might be the most difficult and scrutinized job in rock music.
All that matters is can she get the job done, and it looks like she is. More power to her.
There are a few curmudgeons who are like, "This isn't Rush! This is a cover band!"
They can wallow in their bitterness. Meanwhile, Rush is selling out multi-night shows and adding more to the tour to meet ticket demand.
And the band sounds awesome!
That logic is par for the course for Democrat operatives and a lot of the rank and file. I have acquaintances who would think this makes perfectly good sense.
I’m trying to think of something I care less about than the World Cup. Hmm ... nothing comes to mind.
I throughly enjoyed the USA vs. Paraguay match. The US squad looked terrific and the match was fun.
It’s cool that the US squad includes Chris Richards who is from Alabama. He plays for Crystal Palace, a Premier League club from South London.
IMO, the vitriolic posts against Soccer are ignorant.
Soccer is more exciting than baseball or the trashy, Anti-American NBA and NFL.
Speak for yourself. I didn't stay home, I only wore a mask because my job required me to interact with the public (it wasn't an actual mask, it was a thin, see through balaclava) and I sure as hell didn't get that experimental gene therapy injection.
That may apply to others, but not me.
They’re just as hilarious during the NFL season.
The match last night was Brilliant.
🇺🇸👍
I wasn’t speaking to you.

Obviously, you were.
Perhaps in the future you should examine exactly to whom it is you're responding to in order to avoid confusion.
