I took a ‘heroic dose’ about 12 years ago at some music festival where I camped the weekend with a friend. It was all hippies so everything was very mellow. But the dose was too high and made me just want to lay down in our tent. There was a drum circle nearby and I listened to them. Not much visual distortion and no profound insights or anything (mescaline better for that) just a very mellow feeling that encompasses your body. The best thing about it is that it raises your mood noticeably for the next several weeks. It’s non addictive. Boy I could sure use some right now lol.

It’s an effective medicine for mental and physical health. It increased aged mice lifespan like 30%. Those dissing it are just ignorant of the facts.

Recent preclinical studies published in npj Aging (2025) provide experimental evidence that psilocybin extends lifespan and delays aging markers in mice and human cells.

Cellular Impact: Treatment with psilocin (the active metabolite of psilocybin) extended the lifespan of human skin and lung cells by up to 57%, while reducing senescence markers and preserving telomere length.
Mouse Survival: In aged mice (equivalent to 60–65 human years), psilocybin treatment increased survival rates from 50% to 80% and improved physical health markers, such as fur quality and reduced graying.
Mechanisms: The anti-aging effects are attributed to reduced oxidative stress, enhanced DNA repair responses, increased SIRT1 expression, and protection against telomere shortening.
