Their best player, Sardar Azmoun, was disqualified because he stood with the people after the rulers of Iran slaughtered 30,000 people in January.
An aside: In capitulation to FIFA and the rulers of Iran, Iranian-Americans attending the soccer match are forbidden from bringing the historical Iranian flag (the “Lion and the Sun” flag) because it offends the rulers of Iran.
Last time I checked, if you are on US soil, the First Amendment guarantees your freedom of speech, and the US Constitution pre-empts FIFA edicts.
