Nowak’s pulmonary artery was severed by Digwa’s blade thrust up under the ribcage (the killer had practiced and knew how to do this). Nowak had a small chance of survival even if he had been stabbed in an ER, never mind the street. So, in a legal sense, the cops depraved indifference didn’t “kill him”.
