Counting back, the cancelled Stargate show concept was approved during and quite likely based on wokeness and now dated Biden era political themes. That would have meant not so veiled bashing of Trump and MAGA. Such a show though would now be profoundly foolish. With the recent Blue Origin launch pad explosion at Cape Canaveral, Jeff Bezos suddenly needs swift NASA permits and approvals for rebuilding.

Sure, the now impolitic anti-Trump themes could have been written out of the new series. Doing so though would have had angry writers and producers running their mouths to Hollywood trade publications and websites. That is a headache that neither Bezos nor Amazon's current managers would want. Better then to pull the plug and start over.

These shows are not about the plots, characters, and storylines. They're about the target audience being sold to advertisers. If the target audience isn't going to cough up enough money to advertisers, the advertisers demand different programming.

The marketers are likely seeing the dismal numbers for the recent Star Trek and Star Wars shows and avoiding funding another Sci-Fi series.

One reason advertisers don't like Sci-Fi audiences is that the younger viewers are male, carrying a lot of student loan debt, and do not have a lot of discretionary dollars.

They're not buying homes, new cars, clothing, vacation packages, cosmetics, and hair products.

They also have talent and are likely to critique the hell out of your show, forcing you to hire real talent for actors, writers, the props departments, etc.

The advertisers are better off targeting divorced women or never-been-married welfare queens, with a reality television show using idiotic scripts, non-union actors, and non-union writers.

It's the fast food model versus a family owned steakhouse.
