Your post is so wrong on so many levels. For starters, he just released a new album today (as it so happens). It’s titled “The Boys of Dungeon Lane” and it’s a very mature and reflective work. Three songs stand out to me: “Days We Left Behind”, “First Star of the Morning”, and “Momma Got By.” All are moving, well constructed, and beautiful songs. But this is nothing new. In the 21st century, he’s put out exceptional album after exceptional album. Everyone seems to know this except a clueless contingent here on Free Republic. Now does this music exude the youthful exuberance of the early Beatles or even Wings? No, not usually (though sometimes he’ll belt a true rocker out) but the music is always well constructed and ALWAYS melodically rich. I know you have never heard these more recent albums or you would never make such an ignorant post.

And you got his birthday wrong too: he’ll be 84 on June 18.

I’m happy Paul continues to write and produce music.
Making music/ making merry is his raison de’etre, and has been, since learning piano while watching his Dad James improvise jazz passages on the family upright.
As I said, he will always be a treasure, especially to those of us who grew up hearing his work.

I really want to like the album, but the voice just isn’t there anymore.
