Latin America is undergoing a political transformation. Seven countries in the region have recently or will soon hold elections: Bolivia, Honduras, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Colombia and Brazil, in chronological order. In the four elections that have already taken place, the right wing triumphed; while in the remaining three, according to polls, conservative presidential candidates are highly likely to win..
This shift is namely due to three factors: the governance failures of the left-wing parties, new evidence of the close relationship between the left and organized crime, and the significant influence of the United States’ new National Security Strategy...
The Sao Paulo Forum, once a key coordinating platform for left-wing movements in the region, appears to be losing its influence as electoral momentum shifts away from its affiliated parties...
The Trump Effect:
There are two additional factors that will influence the upcoming elections in Latin America. The first is the information that will come to light about the shady dealings between the head of the Cartel of the Suns, Nicolas Maduro and leftist leaders in the region...
The second is the open endorsement of the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump for several candidates in the region...

According to the graphic, between 2023 and 2026,
Uruguay went from right wing to lift wing.

Yamandú Orsi, a teacher and politician from the left-wing Broad Front coalition, became President of Uruguay in March 2025.

I like the color designation.
Historically, red has always been associated with communism and socialism.
I wish that President Trump, instead of engaging in vanity like the $250 bill, would make a tour of South America and help secure right-wing victories. This would be far more impactful to the future of the hemisphere than putting his face & name on another thing.
Did you read the article? Beyond the article have you been paying attention?
Yea I read it. How does that pertain to my wish for Trump to visit S. America?
Chile already held an election and Jose Kast who is decidedly right of Center and a friend of Trump won in March.
,Okay you said visit or "tour". I had read your post as if you said he wasn't doing anything.
So then we agree? Trump has done a lot. But Trump hasn't visited.
Definitely. Especially in Latin America. Che Guevara’s impact comes to mind.
You make a fair point. “Make the Americas Great Again” would be preferable to Middle East bulldozing.
That was NBCs point in changing it. All the networks universally adopted the color change. Even Fox.
You didn't just say that you would like him to visit S. America. You did say that Trump was in engaging in a vanity "instead of" doiong his job, "touring S. America".
Two things can be true at once. FReegards
