"Freedom" is formless and demands commitment to responsibility. You need to make choices and decisions ... which is something that young people are too lazy to do. Also, they know they are are not intellectually capable/prepared to make right choices or decisions!
They goofed off all the time they were supposed to be learning so they want to escape their 'freedom' by opting for a person or a system that will make those decisions FOR them.
WE of course, want to make decisions and choices for ourselves because we are both capable and prepared to take up that responsibility for ourselves! We started early and by now, we know our direction and we know what works!! THEY do not know and it kills them that we won't accept THEIR direction and their choices!!!!
