The Democrats’ Luciferian Beauty Play
American Thinker ^ | 27 May, 2026 | Selwyn Duke

Take a look at why Zohran Mamdani and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez won their elections, and then look at Texas Senate candidate James Talarico.

undit Bill O’Reilly recently said he was “surprised” that ex-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo lost to Zohran Mamdani in the 2025 New York City mayoral race.

“I thought,” he told Cuomo during a May 14 discussion, “you were going to wax them [your competitors].”

Do you know when I realized Mamdani would win?

The very first time I saw him on TV.

No, it wasn’t that Mamdani was promising to rob Peter blind to pay Paul and then send both home to rent-frozen apartments on a free bus. It was that I understand the Luciferian Beauty Principle.

Now, you can take the following as metaphor if you’re not a theist. In Christian theology, Lucifer chose pride over God, rebelled and became the purest manifestation of evil: Satan. But he also was something else: As Lucifer, whose name means 'light bringer,' he was known as the most beautiful of angels.

There is an all-important lesson there. It’s not just that evil doesn’t appear comic-book style, with a pitchfork and horns; it masquerades as something beautiful and impressive.

The malevolent know how easily humans are seduced by what pleases the eye and ear. We see this, for example, whenever a man is deceived by a comely gold-digger.

As for Mamdani, the power- and national grave-digger, he’s a good-looking young guy with an easy smile, charisma on command and the most silvery of tongues, eloquent and articulate to the hilt. Note here the studies showing that it doesn’t matter what you say; if you say it well, you will sway people. It’s a testimonial to the power of style over substance.

That was their response to John Lennon’s “Imagine”.

I didn’t know that, but I can well believe it.

Yes. There is an analogy with social media there…

Clinton did get 45% of the female vote in 1992.

Pro-abortion/anti-gun Ross Perot got Clinton elected.

It was Perot and the people who fell for his campaign to get Clinton into the White House.

If Bush didn’t screw up in the first place, there would have been no Perot.

In a one on one contest Clinton would have lost and we would have done without his 8 years and the thrusting of Hillary Clinton into such a dominate place in American politics and driving the national narratives.

Ross Perot gave us not just a 2 term democrat president but gave us decades of the Clintons that still isn’t entirely over.

It’s a particularly ironic strategy from the Left, as the base (being largely fat and ugly) is the first to decry “lookist” society.

IIRC, they were calling John Lennon (& his ‘Imagine’ universe) the fool in that song...

True, but it applies to a lot more than just Lennon’s song.

Not sure about beauty.

But LIKEABILITY matters.

I would argue in EVERY election for POTUS starting with Dewey/Trump, the most likeable candidate has won.

Of course, there was NO election in 2020, that was a coup d’etat.

Truman was more likeable that Dewey.

Eisenhower was more likeable than Stevenson.

Kennedy was more likeable than Nixon.

LBJ was more likeable than Goldwater.

Nixon was barely more likeable that Humphrey.

Nixon was barely more likeable than McGovern.

Carter was more likeable than Deep State tool Gerry Ford.

Reagan was more likeable than Carter or Mondale.

Daddy Bush was more likeable than Dukakis.

Slick Willie was more likeable than a read my lips no new taxes Daddy Bush.

Slick Willie was more likeable than Gerry Ford’s hatchet man Bobby Dole.

Jethro Bodine Bush was more likeable than the wooden one Al Gore and the insufferable Frenchy Kerry.

Barry was more likeable than the RINO relic Juan McCain.

Barry was more likeable than the smarmy Pierre Delecto.

Trump was more likeable than Crooked Hillary.

There was no free election in 2020.

Trump was more likeable than the most unlikeable candidate to ever run Komrade Kammy.

In politics, the importance of ideology, party, and platform are vastly overrated.

Mamdani was simply more likeable than Cuomo.

It was simply choosing the devil you don’t know over the devil the voters knew all too well.

In the unformatted abstract it looked very odd and I didn’t recognize it as Pundit, but when I clicked the link it became obvious it was Pundit. ;)

Likeability in a way is your inner beauty or the personality you show to the world. I agree with your take. Whoever runs for our side in 28 better be more likeable.

He’s right, this whole phenomenon was accurately captured by Marshall McLuhan in his prescient 1964 book “Understanding Media.” His thesis is sometimes summarized as “the medium is the message.” He would predict that Talarico will defeat Paxton, because Paxton is “hot” while Talarico is “cool.” Just like Nixon and Kennedy.

Do not doubt the rats used this deliberately in picking AOC, and it worked famously. It is why they engineered Talarico’s primary win, they wanted a ‘cool’ candidate not a contentious loudmouth picking fights. If Paxton is unable to dent Talarico’s veneer despite his absurd statements and positions, Talarico will win.

McLuhan would say ‘of course.’
