He is backtracking on another promised he made to eliminate pDST and is now endorsing it.
He is NOT backtracking. He is mainly against CHANGING the time. The hour you make it is arbitrary. Once upon a time, individual towns had local time based on the position of the sun in that location. Once you had train time tables, that became unmanageable so time zones came in.
I am in Arizona. Outside of Indian reservations, we do not follow DST. If this gets passed, we would be grouped in with California for time purposes. It doesn't really matter, It is all arbitrary. The point is to get rid of the 2x/year monkeying with all the clocks. This is a huge good for computer systems, that all work on keeping time.

Actually AZ would be grouped with the other “Mountain Time” states...they are trying to federally mandate DST I think. (AZ not exempt). (I could be wrong I haven’t read the proposed legislation).
