Springsteen made the most of an opportunity to characterize himself as the working class hero from Jersey. It's not true, and he's certainly not ‘all that’ as a musician, but he's from the east coast which is a huge audience and this made him rich. Good for him, but his opinion means no more than that of any Uber driver or anyone else for that matter.
