The construction trades depend on illegal immigrant labor.
It’s all about the wages.

“The construction trades depend on illegal immigrant labor.”

Had my house reroofed a few years ago. Later I had my house painted.

Both companies sent Hispanic crews to do the work which I was dissatisfied with for a couple of reasons.

I have now learned my lesson from all that.

Recently I took bids to have my kitchen cabinets painted....I told both estimators one thing that was not negotiable was there would be no latinos, hispanics or mexicans allowed on my property and I didn’t care how that sounded, I had my reasons.

Both companies said they knew exactly why I felt that way and both said they would accommodate that request no questions asked.

The internet is full of videos of young people (Americans) hanging out on street corners and causing trouble. Wouldn’t it be great if we could get them into trades programs?

That would take a bit of work, as you’d have to get their minds right first.

Too much work, I guess.

“The construction trades depend on illegal immigrant labor.”

It’s the illegals that are causing the construction trade to have problems. Carpenters and masons are backlogged with people that are waiting in line, sometimes for weeks, to get the call so they can get work on a contractor’s job. There are so many people that can work, that many cannot get employment in a daily basis. Undocumented immigrants make up roughly 14% to 15% of the total U.S. construction workforce. However, in specific sub-trades—such as framing, roofing, drywall, and bricklaying—that number is estimated to be significantly higher, with some independent estimates and trade groups suggesting undocumented workers can account for up to 50% of labor in those areas. So they are taking jobs away from American workers. They are not instrumental in the field, they are a problem with it. They are not needed and shouldn’t be taking jobs away from legal citizens. My son was in the field and we have friends sitting at home that can’t get work because of the backlog.
