1862 was the year A1 showed at the International Exhibition in London. The English already had their civil war. But...

A1 in 1862 was ready for the Chisholm Trail glory days right after our civil war. Texas Longhorns--5 million head driven by American cowboys--found their way up through Kansas to the Chicago slaughterhouses and then to New York dinner and a good bit all the way to London.

Good point connecting those dots. Texas cattle drives, the rapid expansion of railroads to Chicago and St. Louis, a growing taste for beef, more people traveling, luxurious hotels opening in big cities...it all came together and A1 Steak Sauce was born.
