A couple of years ago I developed an intestinal issue that required I needed to be near a bathroom to avoid an accident that would have been messy and embarrassing.

I went to see a gastroenterologist and was prescribed probiotics and had a colonoscopy, the probiotics didn’t work and the colonoscopy showed no issues.

Based on a suggestion from a friend who a similar issue, I began taking peppermint oil as a supplement, a few drop in coffee or water and after a few days I noticed a difference, in 7-10 days my problem had been cleared up.

Besides the blood pressure benefit mentioned in this article, I would also say peppermint oil can be effective with digestive or intestinal issues as well.

Yep - for now, the blood pressure deal is not fully studied - but it has long been known to help with gastro issues.
But, if you have GERD, you have to be careful and maybe use capsules instead of drops - it relaxes the stomach/intestines, and also the sphincter of the esophagus which can lead to increased reflux issues.

I have referred to such things, in my own case, as having “an industrial accident”. Having a sense of humor about our problems helps not getting depressed about them.
