True story:
Many years ago I was crushed by a giant falling tree.
A neighbor who saw the whole thing and saw me unconscious and bleeding and all tied up in the tree mess called 911.
She explained to the 911 operator that a man was injured by and hung up in the debris of a fallen tree in front of her house and they needed to send the EMT crew.
The operator asked “how old is he”???
My neighbor is a woman prone against anger and she told me (days later) she had never in her life before wanted to scream at someone as much as she did that 911 operator.
She did manage to answer: What does it matter, just send the emergency squad.
“ She did manage to answer: What does it matter, just send the emergency squad.
Say mid 40’s Whatever. They need to know.
Recently, I was walking in town and some dude was incoherent and Nazi saluting, “Heil Hitler”. I called 911 and told them it was in the center of town (one railroad depot, one traffic light.
The 911 operator had to have the address. She insisted she had to have the address.
All I wanted was for the police to find him for a wellness check. He was not violent, but out of it.
Makes me wonder if I did the right thing.
The police never found him but they were polite and professional, unlike the 911 operator.
