Seriously, I hope she is well on her way to a full recovery and that they catch the vile monster that did this.
Funny. How many here know who the real Van Johnson was?
Sort of like Larry Parks looked in The Jolson Story and Jolson sings Again.
Van Johnson starred in one of my favorite movies, “Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo”, and when I was watching the movie later in life, I noticed there was something odd about him-he had what appeared to be huge scars across his forehead and on his face that I hadn’t noticed before.
Turned out he had been in an accident the year before in 1943 that nearly killed him, had scalped him from the forehead up, and across his face, necessitating a metal plate in his head. So for the rest of his career, he had to wear heavy makeup to try unsuccessfully to fully conceal those scars.
Because of that, he was unable to enter the service during the war.
