During a two-hour summit in Beijing on May 14, U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping agreed that Iran must not develop nuclear weapons and that the Strait of Hormuz should remain open to global shipping.
Trump and Xi discussed a wide range of issues during their meeting, including economic cooperation, fentanyl, and Iran, according to a brief White House readout.
The readout did not include several other topics, such as Taiwan and China’s political prisoners, issues Trump had previously said he would raise before traveling to China.

Sounds like a double win for Trump.
At the very least, there appears to be some minimal level of mutual respect, and basic understanding, between the U.S. and China, in the persons of Trump and Xi.
This would have been impossible with Biden.
I agree it’s not much, but the phone lines are still open so that’s something. I honestly wish we had absolutely nothing to do with China. I wish we didn’t buy one piece of their plastic crap
Trump could have put off the diplomatic trip, but instead, Xi can now see that Trump is unwilling to let even the most difficult international complications interfere with efficient communications and relations between the U.S. and China at the highest levels.
Well, this is certainly a good start.
The commies want the straight open so that they can trade their weapons for the oil.
They’ll be happy if and when USA restores this opportunity for them.
AFAIAC, enabling communist China would be a terrible and extremely unwise, dangerous path for America.
I frankly don’t believe PDJT will fall prey to that trap — so that this report is just the usual diplomatic fog lingo and we aren’t being told what’s really going on
