the author forgot to mention acid rain which was in the middle of that long list of climate panics.
Acid rain was a real thing. In that the Sulfur put out primarily by coal burning power plants in KY, WV, OH, PA, was having an effect on the lakes in the Adirondacks downwind.
They added scrubbers to those power plants and the sulfur output decreased. The lakes PH eventually returned to normal and the fish came back. The LIE(back in the 1970s/1980s) was that they would be DEAD forever.
This was similar to when I had a pool at my previous house.
When we got big thunder storms in the summer and you would get a downpour of rain it might add an inch or even two of water to the pool in a day. That rain washed all the crap out of the air and into my pool screwing up the PH because of the acidic content increase. So, down to the pool store I would go to buy a box of PH adjuster. It happened every summer a couple times.
