MADRID, May 10 (Reuters) - British paratroopers have dropped onto Britain's most remote overseas territory, Tristan da Cunha, along with medics and medical supplies, after a case of suspected hantavirus was confirmed there.
A team of six paratroopers and two military clinicians from 16 Air Assault Brigade jumped from an RAF A400M transport aircraft that flew 6,788 km (4,218 miles) from RAF Brize Norton air base in Oxfordshire to Ascension Island then another 3,000 km due south to Tristan da Cunha.

A specialist team of army and medical personnel have been parachuted on to the British overseas territory Tristan da Cunha with medical aid and equipment after a British national showed symptoms of hantavirus.
The patient had been on board the cruise ship MV Hondius where an outbreak of the virus has killed three people, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has confirmed.
They are currently in hospital on the island where they live, the UK minister for the overseas territories, Stephen Doughty, said in a statement.
There’s no airport and limited sea access, so if time’s important, this makes the most sense.
No mention if it’s Andes...
My guess is that the paratroops are going in blind, they probably don’t know the situation on the island regarding females and beer, they will have to deal with whatever they find.

There’s a ton of other articles about it if you do a google search of “Tristan da Cunha.” Others have posted other links. The media is pushing this hard. Again, sorry ‘bout that.
I tried to post from the Independent first, but FR wouldn’t let me (a lot of work for nothing). The Independnt’s got good pictures also. Funny how we’ve got pictures from the ground of Tristan da Cunha showing parachuters wafting to the ground (if that’s a real photo and not AI or a photo from some other event), but not word one from any passengers on the ships where all the sick people are supposed to be. In this day of cell phone cameras and uploaded videos, it’s not just strange, but implausible that not a single passenger has posted anything on social media or called their children who post on social media.

Was watching last night on TLC a show called “Diagnosed dead or alive” it was filmed in 2012 about a man named Dr David Hartstein from upstate NY, he was 35 yrs old, died in 2011 of Hantavirus, took weeks to diagnose him, they finally figured it out when the docs asked his wife what he had done recently and she mentioned cleaning up the basement so he could start a woodshop business, turns out he cleaned up rodent droppings without a mask and was infected..Hantavirus is a common thing, it can happen, its not a national emergency but ONLY in an election year when the Dems are running out of options and need the country shut down for their mail in voting scam
