If there was a way to boot the UN out of its space along the East River, Mamdani could waste more billions turning it into a park too.
Last year’s History Chanell series of American mob leaders had one section with a slow moving film taken just before Guliani became mayor of NYC. It said high income people and those who leased expensive storefronts on Park Avenue had fled by a little under one million residents recently as they cited out of control crime and declining shopping spending as reasons. Mobs took over power as millionaires deserted NYC.
The documentary showed maybe 5 minutes of boarded up former high end stores and others with still shattered plate glass display windows all down the street. Then “stop, question and frisk” and prosecution of crime bosses led the recovery.
Trouble today is it’s not Guliani, it’s Mamdani.
