I no longer live in FL, but over nearly 2 decades there, I was treated to a constant flow of stories like this. Typically, doctors and lawyers, but also others who were successful in some field, amassed enough money to purchase a plane in which they killed themselves and their family. There will be a technical cause for this, but an underlying issue of arrogance leads pilots to be overconfident and certain of their capabilities, even when those capabilities do not exist. It’s taking their families with them that particularly bothers me.

The last big news from Florida while I was stationed there, was some cousin of the Kennedys had been arrested for killing some young girl on his mansion, or something like that. His last name wasn't "Kennedy", but was supposedly known. Can't remember it though.
I think he had used a gold club on her, or something like that.
About the arrogance and naïvety of pilots that think they are better than they are... well, there are plenty of them.
