Why is WHCD shooter Cole Tomas Allen’s link to a group known as “The Wide Awakes” is receiving such little scrutiny from the media?

Too many left-wing donors.

“Wide Awakes” is a direct-action protest tactic. Including specifically targeting the tactic towards Hilton hotels, where the WHCD took place.

They’re miffed due to Hilton’s hospitality of ICE agents in Minnesota.

The “Wide Awakes” have denied any affiliation with Allen. Even though the relationship was reported by Allen’s sister to law enforcement.

They’re also part of the No Kings movement, which Allen reportedly attended.

Radical abolitionists c. 1860 may have been Republican, but they were not conservative. The far left of the time (including Karl Marx himself in his op-eds for the New York Daily Tribune) were radical abolitionists. The conservatives were those who wanted to leave slavery alone in those states where it existed.

So yes, most of the "wideawakes" of mid 19th century were the equivalent of today's "woke". In fact, don't today's Black Lives Matter and Antifa activists use the same rhetoric about slavery being America's "original sin" as the wideawakes?
