A video of Alex Lifeson, the guitarist of the band, “RUSH,” arguing with his parents about quitting high school to go into music. Alex’s dad wants him to follow him into the world of plumbing.
If you are a fan like me, it’s an amazing video.

At the other end of the spectrum you've got Dexter Holland, founder and lead singer of The Offspring, who has a PhD in molecular biology. Also, Megan Thee Stallion was in the process of getting her degree when she shot up the charts in 2019 but continued her education graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Administration.
Yep. The speech. Love those guys. I have tickets for their upcoming tour here. With the new girl. Anika.
The question this video raises is, who films their family discussions around the dinner table?
That makes me think it was staged.
the video comes from a documentary of at risk kids living in a home together, and Alex’s family came to visit:

An ancient reality tv show in a sense
In later years I believe both Alex and Geddy’s moms would go to a few shows and sit off to the side of the stage. In their interviews they always show nothing but respect to their parents who worked hard providing for their families and doing their best. For us Rush fans, that early glimpse into Alex’s life is pretty amazing. And they begin their “Fifty Something” tour in a couple of months!
I used to video our dinners and other things at home with my wife and kids back in the 1990’s! They are a hoot to watch every now and then.
Are they amped out on something? The girl won’t stop moving! Rocking back and forth at full speed! lol
Yeah Alex in the documentary admits they were using drugs

This is what would have happened to Geddy, Alex and Neil if they hadn’t formed Rush.
Enjoy.
omg
Once upon a time, a family member, not either of my parents, said:
"Why do you want to go into that music mess, there ain't no money in that?"
Well, I was a professional musician for 22 years.
that’s a good story but I wanted to say yes, there are some real feisty folks here. ha. To put it mildly. “ on the spectrum”
He’s also the bartender in the new series “The Trades”. And yes, he has good comedic sense.
Yea that was a great episode.
They would have been a good band regardless - Alex and Geddy are just that good - but without Peart's lyrics and influence probably not nearly as well known, just another metal band.
“And yes, he has good comedic sense.”
Both Alex and Geddy have said that it was their humor (including Neil’s) that kept their friendship (and the group) together for so long. That, and no egos.
At the end of the one documentary they closed with a “dinner with Rush” where one can see their chemistry and humor (12 minutes).

I love the “Dinner with Rush” segment.
