A North Hollywood couple’s routine walk around their neighborhood quickly turned into a nightmare after they discovered their dog had accidentally ingested meth.
Nikolas and Jenifer Dorhoutmees enjoy regular walks through their neighborhood with their 3-year-old Australian cattle mix named Uni.
While visiting North Hollywood Park, Uni began sniffing around. Soon after, they noticed the dog’s condition had changed drastically.
“Drooling, diarrhea, all of it,” Jenifer told KTLA’s Chris Wolfe. “We checked her gums, they were white.”
Unsure what was happening, the couple rushed Uni to the veterinarian. Then, Jenifer said she remembered KTLA covering a similar story in November 2025 of a dog who had ingested meth while walking in North Hollywood.
She urged the vet to administer a drug test and the results came back positive for methamphetamine.
The Dorhoutmees said they hope that by sharing their story, dog owners can be aware of the signs and symptoms should their pets experience a similar emergency...

Some Californians felt reprieve when Trump won, and would have welcomed more federal pushback against the state. But other than scattered ICE episodes, helping fire victims push through red tape, and advocating offshore drilling - the admin hasn't prioritized a strong PR push towards national restoration even after lending promises to CA specifically, with the L.A. Olympics around the corner.
If the messaging were clear that the feds' agenda was about cleaning homeless encampments, and sending troops to help address the fentanyl crisis -- that wouldn't receive as much partisan pushback, even from residents who identify with the Left.
Bring back asylums and lock up the homeless. Despite the democrats saying they are all hard working people just down on their luck because of Trump’s tax cuts and Putin’s price hike.... They are deadbeat junkies who want to live in filth and violence high out of their minds.
