The ingredients necessary for mimicking the Chinese take-out tastes are soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sesame oil, and oyster sauce. (If allergic to shellfish, they make a mushroom based “oyster” sauce.) There are other ingredients, but those four are essential. A great internet site for recipes creating Chinese take-out dishes is “The Woks of Life”. It’s put together by a family who ran a Chinese restaurant.
