Brubeck’s drummer, the amazing Joe Morello was also my son’s drum teacher’s teacher. I didn’t know until recently that he also played with Gary Burton, another of my favorite jazz musicians. Incredible vibes with Morello on drums, going to have to check that out.
Joe was a funny guy. Actually I think he was more interested in my blonde girlfriend at the time.
