D4vd is pronounced how? I thought it was an Icelandic name, maybe voiced as dee-void or something weird.

I thought it was DVDA, which is South Park’s Trey Parker’s band. (You don’t want to know what it stands for)

re: D4vd is pronounced how?

The number 4 stands for A in this kind of lingo. So it's DA-vd, pronounced like David, I guess.

from Leo AI, in Brave browser....

"The practice of replacing letters with numbers to spell words is primarily known as *leetspeak* (or leet), a system that originated in the 1980s on bulletin boards and chat services to obscure text from non-initiated users."

"Another specific term for number-based word constructs is numeronym, which generally refers to abbreviations where numbers replace letters based on either pronunciation or the count of omitted letters."

Key distinctions include:

Leetspeak:
Uses numbers and symbols to substitute individual letters (e.g., 1337 for "leet" or gr8 for "great"), often creating a dialect that mixes textese and intentional misspellings.

Numeronyms:
Includes homophonic numeronyms where numbers sound like the omitted letters (e.g., K9 for "canine" or l8r for "later") and numerical contractions where the number represents the count of skipped letters (e.g., i18n for "internationalization").

“D4vd” I’m sure is still pronounced “David.” The ‘4’ is just a cool-kid way write/type an ‘A.’
