I proposed on a project and the client sent me a map of 8 areas of interest for some large construction project. It was for Amazon (and located in Eastern Washington state). Large parcels of land scattered near three towns.
I asked him “So will we be studying all 8 areas or just one of them?”
“All eight.”
“And then will they pick one site to develop or what?”
“Nope - they are building all 8.”
This was before I even really heard much about AI. I thought it was just computer servers for their regular buying/selling/shipping business.
The drawings showed huge buildings and cooling ponds, with very small parking lots. Maybe 10 to 20 spots to park. The client said the buildings were pretty much stacked wall to wall with computers and only a small office area for a few people to monitor it all.
I was just talking to a gal that does TV programming. She is waiting to get laid off. One group of 50 just got laid off. One guy running AI on the other side of the country does their job now.
Most of me is against this huge AI push, but another part of me thinks it is just new technology to help people do jobs better and quicker.
