Astronauts on board Artemis II reported a mysterious burning smell coming from the $23 million advanced toilet system which previously malfunctioned after takeoff.
“Regarding the smell, I just wanted to make sure you all were tracking the EGS notes of the kind of burning heater smell that was coming from toilet several times,” astronaut Chrisna Koch, who fixed the toilet on Thursday, radioed to mission control on Saturday, Space.com reported.

A burning smell happened before Apollo 13’s little oopsie.
Of course, the burning smell was completely confined to a liquid oxygen tank, and probably only lasted a few milliseconds before boom.
Maybe the astronauts gotta lay off the lentils til they return home, problem solved
Having had a career in aviation maintenance I know it’s common for systems to have multiple backups.
I know NASA space craft are the same way.....except for the dumper it appears.

Didn’t the United States also build a brand new aircraft carrier with toilet problems too?
It may be time to hire a new plumber... Like maybe a plumber with a red seal, instead of an engineer who doesn’t know a plunger from a toilet brush to design your toilets.
