I’ve taken to having an old fashioned since most bartenders know how to make that. Very few places have decent rum or decent rum drinks, and that’s my usual at home.
I don’t drink beer at all. Or more properly, I have rules for when I drink beer, so that I drink beer very very rarely.
I’m all over the place on wine. Usually something semi sweet is where I go. I’ll go with a Malbec or red blend if I’m drinking a red. For white, I’ll go with a drier Riesling or a nice Chablis. Sometimes I’ll have a Prosecco, but I really dislike Moscato that some of my friends like. I’m picky on Chardonnays, and not a fan of Pinot Grigio. I do use Sauvignon Blanc for cooking. That almost always works in a dish calling for white wine.
I do not drink beer very quickly and my delight with it diminishes as it quits being cold, which ends with me often not finishing a glass or bottle (never a can) and occasionally (if out) get another “cold one” - and then not finish it either.
With wine I seem to be stuck on Cabernet Sauvignon - by many different sources domestic and foreign. I will try others on occasion but always fall back to my preference.
