This may have finally identified the real source of “Crazy Liz Disease” that seems to infect GOP members of congress.
Ron Paul has never been the person people think he is.
He rails against the federal reserve but glossed over the fact that his Treasury is as much part of the equation.
The Treasury sells dollars to the Fed at face value.
There is much to oppose and criticize in libertarians. Yet it is wrong to dismiss entirely Ron Paul and his career. Ron Paul was one of the very few members of Congress who opposed America’s foreign entanglements in Iraq and Afghanistan. His speeches on the House floor were prescient. He predicted the costly, bloody quagmire America would suffer. He also accurately predicted that the entanglements would lead to the election of liberal Democrats who would do grave harm to the American nation and the people. He forsaw the Obama/Biden catastophres. Historians will be far kinder to Ron Paul than most of his contemporaries.
Individuals put the US first, or last, or in the middle.
The GOP (and other organizations) are not mono-lithic.
There is a big difference between Ron Paul and Lindsay Graham (who has never seen a military action he did not like).
ANd he was absolutely consistent and didnt take money form lobbyists—that seemed to be a great sin
