Millions subscribe to them, so dismissing their influence is whistling past the graveyard.

I’m not “dismissing their influence.” I do object to the narrative that this represents a rift in the MAGA coalition, which it’s not.
What we’re dealing with is a ragtag coalition trying to disrupt the conservative movement in the US; they’re just pretending to be inside it. It’s composed of ex-Bernie bros and other promoters of wealth redistribution (aka thieves, demagogues, and fools), combined with apologists for Islam, with an undercurrent of hatred for Jews.
I don’t know, but some have suggested that there might be foreign influence trying to sow chaos, on top of the genuinely homegrown mayhem.
It’s probably not as large a group as one might think by watching the people touting their ideas in the blogosphere and on X.
