What could Possibly go wrong????? /sarc
There have been 12 bear kills in North America since 2020.
There are approximately 55,000 to 60,000 brown bears (including grizzly bears) in North America. The vast majority of these inhabit Alaska (roughly 30,000) and Western Canada (roughly 25,000). A smaller, isolated population of fewer than 2,000 exists in the contiguous United States.
Most of the kills were either involving a sow with cubs, a hunter hunting bears, or one that was taken while he was cleaning another bear he had killed in North Carolina.
I was stationed in Alaska in mid 1984 till mid 1985. We had a certain amount of bear confrontations but if retreat is possible the bears normally didn’t press the issue unless it was a sow with cubs.
