I also read that an ROTC student killed the guy with a knife. I bet it was with an ever-present pocket folder. One should be in your EDC kit.
Probably will try to expel the ROTC cadet for having a weapon on campus. Weapons are prohibited except by police on campus. When seconds count, police are just minutes away.

Just one? "One is none, and two is one, that's why I have three." Counting my EDC bag, I always have at least three, with at least one somewhere on my person. It's the same with good quality flashlights. Being as I live in Tennessee, I'm the same way about my handguns, as well. It may be "posted" as a gun-free zone, but if I'm there, their sign is wrong. I don't go anywhere that has metal detectors or people "wanding" visitors... I flat out refuse to be forced to be defenseless.
Why do I go to this level? Because I worked in Tower 2 of the WTC in the fall of 1993, after the first attempt to take them down with a truck bomb the previous February. I spoke with people about their experiences during that first attempt. I learned from those that were there, and then built on that foundation. Besides the previously mentioned items, I always carry a couple of bottles of water, an enhanced individual first aid kit (EIFAK), small food items, and a fully programmed 2-meter/440Mhz/GMRS handheld radio.
