Politico Buries Republicans Who Could 'Upset' Open California Gubernatorial Primary

It's the Great Fear that is just eating away at the poor folks at Politico. It was first expressed by that periodical in December when they suddenly realized that with so many Democrats (and none clearly in the lead) that in the open primary for governor of California that it was possible that with only two Republicans in that race, that both of them could end up in first and second place due to the Democrats splitting up the rest of the votes among themselves.

A couple of months later in February that fear not only did not go away but intensified with poor Politico going full delusional to the extent of pretending that if they only concentrated on the top two Democrat candidates while absurdly ignoring the two GOP candidates whom many polls are showing in the first and second spot, thus qualifying to run against each other in the general election, that maybe the problem would just go away. The result of completely ignoring the Republican candidates who could both qualify for the general election earned Politico some well deserved mockery.

And now we are back with Round 3 of the California open gubernatorial primary Great Fear by Politico with this Monday entry by Jeremy White,"Eight Democrats and no front-runner: California’s governor race is a mess." Notice that Republicans are again ignored in the title but in what can best be described as a modified limited hangout (to avoid more mockery?) the Republican candidates who are currently leading in several polls are very briefly mentioned once and only once in a paragraph buried deep, deep near the end of the story:

As of right now the Democrats are splitting up the votes 8 ways with no clear leader. So even if the Democrats represent 70% of the vote, they could easily split that up so that the top Democrat gets no more than 10% of the total share while both Republicans end up with more than that each splitting the remaining 30% GOP voter share in that OPEN primary. Remember they all run in the SAME (not separate) primary.

Hell would have to freeze over to have two Republicans as frontrunners in California. Well, with Katie Porter in the race, she sets the conditions for Hell freezing over. She is radioactive. She is a massive black hole of support who is not only losing support for herself but losing support for every other Democrat running.

Eric Fartwell was in the lead among the Democrats but now fellow Democrat Tom Steyer is spending big money to point out that Fartwell is NOT legally qualified to run for governor since he is NOT a legal resident of California since his only home is owned in Maryland.

Many democRATs are not that worried. They know that Judge Boasberg, or some Judge with Boasbergers Syndrome will eventually step in to make things right.

The Dems are now getting to experience one of the drawbacks of the nonpartisan “jungle primary” they adopted to disadvantage Republicans.

“We’re not sure why the nazis are having any success at all against our team of candidates, but we know they changed the primary rules to cause this mess! They caused gas prices to be sky high and are looking to establish white supremacy in California! The Republicans are hateful and it shows in everything those fascists do!”

According to a recent poll...

“Eric Swalwell has emerged as the current frontrunner in California’s 2026 governor’s race, according to a recent Emerson College Polling survey conducted March 7–9, 2026. Swalwell leads with 17% support among likely voters, edging out Republican Steve Hilton, who dropped to 13% from 17% in February. Other top contenders include Tom Steyer and Chad Bianco, each at 11%, while Katie Porter has fallen to 8%.”

Other polls have Hilton in the lead with Bianco and Swawell tied for 2nd.

I shudder to think of Swawell as the next governor. Hopefully, like crabs in a barrel, the other Dem candidates will pull him down, split up the vote enough so Hilton and Bianco are the two candidates, although Bianco as a Republicans, favors a “path to citizenship” for illegals.

I’d be willing to work for Steyer’s nomination(for a price). He cuts into the #1 democrats’ lead thereby clearing the way for the #2 republican.

There are 11 weeks until the primary. As I see it the democrat big wigs can close down several contenders thereby clearing the way for at least one of them getting in. Otherwise the also rans can take one for the team and take themselves out-less likely, it’s egos.

Freepers should then vote for the #2 republican. Turnout can definitely but when it comes to tactics democrats are smarter than we are.

Democrats will learn that they played with fire and torched themselves. Love it.

Politico tries to present this as having such a strong field of Democrats that 8 are running strong campaigns. The reality is that there is not a single Democrat that polls ahead of either Republican. That is not strength.

But, I figure that in the strange event that two Republicans finish in the top two spots, some judge will come along and void the results and demand the top Democrat get on the ballot.

Democrats have no problem breaking the rules when it helps them.

A judge would declare the open primary unconstitutional in a nano second if two republicans win the primary. In fact, I would bet there is already a ruling ready to go just waiting for such a scenario. “Disenfranchise” “Muh Racism” “White supremacy” “Fairness”

Even if, by some chance two republicans would be allowed to stay, the vote fraud industry would have a write in campaign that would guarantee a commie democrat.

If two Rs win the jungle primary, I figure the Dems would simply put a Democrat on the ballot to run against them, regardless of the rules. Some ‘Rat judge would okay it.
