GAMAAN Survey estimates less than 40% actually “identify as muslim” whatever that means.
As of 2020, Iran was 32.2% Shia muslim. All Muslims together total 40.4% (I guess I left off Sufis when remembering ~36% above). Given the trajectory those numbers are sure to be lower in 2026.
