merica is alone among the nations in having a Second Amendment. The Founders were among the wisest men—informed by wise women—of any age. They well understood human nature, particularly its dark side, and understood that a disarmed people are not free--can never be free—but are subjects.
The Second Amendment was not written to allow sport shooting, target practice, hunting, even primarily protection from criminals. It was written to ensure that should government become tyrannical, Americans could rise against it and restore liberty.
Democrats scream bloody murder when anyone speaks that fundamental truth, yet it was one of history’s most famous Democrats, Vice President Hubert Humphry, from Minnesota of all places, who clearly understood the necessity and purpose of the Second Amendment:
Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of the citizens to keep and bear arms. . . . The right of the citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against tyranny, which now appears remote in America, that historically has proven to be always possible.

Joe Biden, whose handlers were among the most tyrannical rulers in American history, often warned that Americans armed only with long guns and handguns were no match for a tyranny armed with nuclear weapons and F-15s. They were unwilling to fight international terrorism, but more than willing to obliterate Americans.
Thomas Jefferson, the author the Declaration of Independence, was a practical man:

Let’s hope Iranians can become proficient in the use of arms soon enough to take on the IRGC.
It would likely take U.S. criminals many centuries to equal the number of citizens murdered by Iran’s theocratic government between 1979 and now.
Worse. Citizens need to arm themselves due to the failure of government to protect society from criminals and the insane. Soros paid DAs and soft on crime Democrats have unleashed an anarcho tyranny in blue states which is making life in America very dangerous. Violent criminals are allowed to prey on the weak and innocent. Despicable.

The US/UN/etc should oversee elections. Show up with your photo ID to cast your vote. ON your way out we hand you a handgun and 50 rounds.
