You never go wrong with competing under the American flag.
She did it.
After a string of wokester statements from other athletes, and way too much attention on American athletes who chose to compete for other countries such as China, the amazing Alysa Liu, who focused on her skating and delivered a stellar, watch-it-over-and-over-again free skate, has won Olympic gold, the biggest prize in skating.

It kind of stands out that China, which doesn't have a high winter Olympics medal count, is apparently trawling the world for overseas Chinese athletes who fled the socialist hellhole to represent them since they don't seem to have a lot of athletes of their own to present as Olympians.
And it was a hellhole indeed that her noble father fled, a true refugee from China, as a student leader in 1989 during the Tiananmen Square protests. They hunted him down, attempted to jail him forever, and he escaped -- to have a daughter who coached beautifully, became a champion under his tutelage, took a couple years off to regain her sense of self, and came back with a vengeance, Best of all, she chose America and is now America's sweetheart.
It's striking how Gu took the danegelt had been promoted on NBC as the wokester sweetheart for whom nationalities were unimportant -- but it will be Alysa who is going to be in the real cash, reaping far greater rewards from product endorsements as the vast American market can't get enough of her. If Gu got her $6 million to promote herself in China,

Alysa Liu was offered millions of dollars to skate for China, but unlike Eileen Gu, Alysa turned them down.
Gu is crying all the way to the bank.
See who makes more endorsement money in the future. It ain’t gonna be Eileen Gu.
Apparently the Chinese are not big fans of Gu.
I can see why.
Nobody likes a traitor.
Congrats to Alysa Liu.
Block Gu’s Passport entering America.
She can become a Permanent Chinese Citizen.
The ChiComs don’t want her, neither.
Well at least she has all that money, I guess.
Megyn Kelly reported yesterday that Eileen Gu is now worth $23 million - what a sellout and she should be made to live in the country she represented - Communist China.
Alysa Liu was wonderful, so glad she watched. I saw it come up in my newsfeed when I was having lunch with a group of friends and everyone cheered and said “Thank God!”
Is she one of the birth vacation babys the Chinese love to crap on us?
Talking about the Gu above.
Exactly.
Odd, but why doesn’t Eileen Gu look 100% Chinese?
“...they don’t seem to have a lot of athletes of their own to present as Olympians.”
Watch for Zhang Ruiyang in four years. She skated an outstanding program in the free skate. She’s a pixy going to middle school in Beijing.

She has a white, American father.
I think the interesting story here is Gu’s mother - Gu Yan.
She’s the perfect post-modern, materialist, elitist product of communist China as well as the Davos age.
She carefully chose sperm and genetics to create a test-tube child, and then managed the child’s conditions between the USA and China taking advtange of both - to allow her child to maximize her elitist ideals of intellect, looks, educational pedigree and wealth

Bravo to both Alysa Liu and her father!
Congratulations on your win, you more than earned it.
On another subject shouldn’t athletes be required to compete for their own country?
