We were on T-Mobile, but had so many problems that we switched back to Verizon a year ago.

My iPhone has good satellite comms (text only) when it is out of range of cell towers. I use GaiaGPS and download maps before I head out to a new place. I also carry a power bank for extended power for the phone. It all works well together.
