Fact check...of course, “Austrian” is not a language. The people of Austria mainly speak German, but they also speak Turkish, Serbian, Croatian and a few other languages.

You’re right. Glad you spoke up - all I could think of was something to do with Arnold Schwarzenegger but my mind went blank...Poor Arnold..still hasn’t learned to speak English; he’s doing some TV ads for something.

When the border between Austria and Yugoslavia was drawn after WWI, some Slovenes were left on the Austrian side of the border and their descendants may still speak Slovenian.

I found some people on the 1920 US census who put down "Austrian" as their native language--they were immigrants from Austria-Hungary but not German speakers (but the census official crossed out "Austrian" and wrote in "German").
