grossly biased article: only pro-free-bus groups interviewed, not a single critic ...
not a single person to say that a system on the verge of collapse will be sent over the edge ... no one to point out that bus fights will increase exponentially with thousands of drug-addicts permanently camping out on “free” buses, disgusting bus hygiene, massive numbers of bus drivers quitting because of all of that, greatly reduced ridership because everyone who can flee will flee, leaving only the poorest of the poor remaining to ride, that is, the very people that were SUPPOSED to be helped by “free” buses ...
“disgusting bus hygiene”
When I worked for a major bus
manufacturer we would
occasionally take in a few
busses that had been in
service for refurbishing.
All of the techs and service
personnel were required to
wear hazmat gear.
Drivers’ of NYC’s coaches
we’re not allowed to leave
the bus unattended during
their 8 hour shifts, even
during their lunch breaks.
The most private area in the
bus, where one could relieve
themselves, was the rear stepwell
area. The hazmat teams would drill
drainage holes in the structures
of the stepwells to drain any urine
that accumulated before work to repair
the rear wheelchair lift could be
performed. The heater panels, which ran
full length of the bus down each side
under the seats were removed to expose
massive amounts of cockroaches sometimes
packed in so thick that they jammed up
the blower motors.
