I guess it’s because news media personalities are a kind of ‘family’...
That could simply be from how dark it is out there. No street lights, no porch light. Pupils open way up after becoming dark-adapted.

This whole investigation is has been a total disaster from day one.
She is probably dead and has been all along. As to where her body is that is another question. The mud in the water has been the Hoax ransom letters that never went anywhere.
The key element in the case is who allegedly drove her home that night and what is the real story. She could be buried who knows where out there in New Mexico, the culprit or culprits had plenty of time to do so and already have had the hole ready if this was preplanned.
I don’t think there was an ever going to be a ransom or so called proof of life. We need to forget the conspiracy theories and look closer to home and valid motives.
The sheriff needs to resign and the FBI have been inept also. As they say the first 48 hours are key and in this case they blew it from there get go.
They have no one.

Search and rescue crews going door to door now near Annie’s house.
They think she is nearby.
Video helps, body type, gait, clothing, etc.
we wondered about tacking K-9s as well ...
Do you have professional experience in criminal investigation?
When I say they have their guy, I mean this video clearly shows who did it, among potentially others.
I heard an interview by a Youtuber when he was talking to a local with experience in rescue. The guy said he thought she was nearby because with all the cameras in the neighborhood they couldn’t find any evidence she had actually left the area.
I guess they did a check on every vehicle caught on camera leaving the neighborhood that evening/morning.
You’re assuming this video is real? And it has taken 8 days to get to this?
LOL!
That’s cartel.
Yes, I believe it is real. 8 days because they have to get hidden images not recorded but retained in the computer systems.
It doesn’t show one thing that would lead to an identity. Still at square one.
Where is the valid ransom note? Any kind of proof of life? Kidnappers are not going to drag this out this long.
They look like boxing gloves. The whole outfit is weird. Why would an unknown assailant break into an elderly woman’s house and take her out but steal nothing? No way this bumbling idiot put together a ransom note and a bitcoin account. It just looks pathetic.
I’ll probably be proven wrong later but I’m going with the theory that there never was a kidnapping. That’s either the son in law or some guy he hired to break in and grab Mom so it looks like an abduction and she just never gets found and the will gets read and everyone collects their inheritance. Mom is probably buried in the desert a few miles away.
Mr. Monk would have solved it by now.

I don’t think the director of the FBI would have released it to the public if it wasn’t real. It took a while to retrieve it due to the damage to the cameras and the fact that the pics taken by the camera weren’t uploaded to the internet. Ms. Guthrie didn’t have that type of security camera subscription.
Mr. Monk would have solved it by now
That’s for certain!
