Just my opinion. She was selfish. She was hurt. This outcome seems obvious. She could have shown class and selflessness by giving her slot to the alternate waiting for her shot. But that’s just me.
You’re probably right. Athletes, however, especially at those levels of commitment, generally have an exaggerated self-belief that pushes them. Think of every boxer who should have quit before becoming damaged for life.
