Legendary Team USA alpine skier Lindsey Vonn had to be airlifted from the course and underwent surgery on her left leg after crashing in her women's downhill run. It was the 41-year-old's first Olympic event since 2018 and comes just over a week after she suffered a torn ACL...

Yea? So what? Please explain how she was able to post the 11th fastest time on Friday's first training run, then the 3rd fastest time on Saturday's final training run? Are you Lindsey Vonn's publicist?
To: Right_Wing_Madman
Are you Lindsey Vonn's publicist?Nope! So I'll state it again: 3rd fastest time in Saturday's second training run.........LOL!
Snarkiness is a last desperate attempt to stay relevant.
To: ChuckHam
we see now that it wasn’t enough.3rd fastest time in Saturday's second training run. Explain that.......
It wasn't the ACL that caused the fall, it was her ski pole catching the 4th gate that pulled her back and off balance before the jump. Watch it

Yes, the U.S. Olympic Ski Team may have alternates,You're wrong again.
"In high-level competitive ski racing (such as the Olympics), individual spots are earned through specific qualification points, meaning there are no designated alternates to replace an injured skier
If a qualified athlete is injured and cannot compete, that specific spot on the team is generally lost rather than filled by another skier"
" Injury Decisions: Athletes with injuries (e.g., torn ACL) may still choose to compete if cleared by medical staff, or they may withdraw, leaving that spot empty.
Therefore, a team cannot simply replace an injured, qualified skier with a new, unqualified athlete."
Yea, facts are a funny thing.

Would another American skier taken her spot if she hadn’t gone? If so, maybe not a great decision for the team.

"[Hot Tabasco fanboi nonsense]"
I could care less to be honest. You mean to tell me that there are no alternates at all? .
Hottie seems to think that putting up good times is the same thing as being a great competitor. What it is is a talent that is managing with a FUNDAMENTAL STRUCTURAL DEFECT that will sooner or later, FAIL, no matter how 'dedicated' or 'tough' or 'giving 110%' that athlete may be.
She was a ticking time bomb of FAIL, and that's what happened. Team USA blew it by letting a famous athlete run their sport based on her ego and notoriety - without regard to the consequences.
There are alternates, but what good it is that now, when it's too late?
A selfish ego-driven athlete made others pay the price with her. Definitely not a role model for anyone.

I showed you were wrong before, but I'll try one more time. There are alternates. She was scheduled for more events .
Lindsey Vonn’s place in the Olympic downhill will likely be filled by another top contender, but specific names have not been confirmed. The U.S. Ski Team will assess the situation and announce a replacement based on current rankings and performance.
So many things you state as facts are just not true.

Besides you, nobody cares about training runs. She crashed when it counted.
To: Right_Wing_Madman
She lasted 15 seconds on her crash run.
