I've been working hard this week trying to keep abreast of national and international events, and I’ve come to the conclusion that much of what is most important to know remains as yet murky and unverifiable.
International Developments
Some things are clear. The decades-long oppression of the people of Cuba is coming to an end within days. The country is woefully short of energy sources -- in significant part because Maduro is out and Venezuela is no longer providing it. The country is now barely existing in blackout conditions. President Trump has announced that major tariffs will be imposed on any country which resupplies fuel. I give the existing regime no more than a few days until it’s done.
In Venezuela, despite some signs of pushback by the new interim leader, transition appears to be proceeding as rapidly as we might wish. This week it was announced that the national prison is closing with all prisoners released. Moreover, a general amnesty has been announced.
In the Mideast, in apparent preparation for an attack on Iran’s rulers, Israel has been eliminating Hezb’allah redoubts, striking at Iranian proxies so they cannot come to their sponsors’ aid. Hamas still has not disarmed, and Israel has successfully eliminated more Hamas leaders.
In Iran this week, there were significant explosions in 11 cities, with reports (denied by the government) that key officials were killed in these bombings. Iranian government claims that these were simply caused by accidents in gas pipes to these buildings do not seem confirmed by pictures of the damage.
Rumors earlier in the week that a plane which normally carries Iranian officials left Tehran for Moscow. Flight identification and tracking appeared to confirm that such a flight took place, but the speculation that it carried many key figures to exile cannot be confirmed.

YouTube is the worst. So much fake news and propaganda on both sides.
They are even using AI to replicate the voice of Victor Davis Hanson and use AI genetated video to make it sound like he is promoting fake news.
I think the Iranians may have put down the rebellion. They will execute a few scapegoats and blame “foreign agents” working for the scapegoats for the killings.
All of the video outlets are just noise and grifters.
Trump and Israel working together can move mountains...

It’s been like this since Castro took over in 59. One would think the people would have had enough, especially little Elon.
I was up until about 2:00 AM ET this morning, and right before I went to bed, I saw a link that said “THIS JUST IN ONE MINUTE AGO: An Iranian Kilo Class diesel sub had launched a torpedo at the USS Abraham Lincoln, the torpedo had been jammed and missed, and the sub was quickly sunk. The US had launched retaliatory strikes against the Iranian navy base and Bandar Abass, and destroyed the facilities there.
I don’t recall where I saw it, but given what is going on, with the protests, slaughtering by the Iranian government of said protesters, a US Carrier strike force just arriving there...the likelihood of those kinds of events was not wholly implausible.
I immediately came to Free Republic to see if anyone had posted (Things get here quickly-I saw the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in near real time thanks to FR, so it is where I immediately go to see if anyone posted.)
Nobody had.
So I went back and was looking at the initial source, and it is was from someone who apparently tells “breaking stories” as if they are real and for “educational purposes”.
I was irritated by that. And it is only one of a gazillion things out there on the Internet that seem like “Lots of News, Often Unverifiable” although I was able to verify fairly quickly that it was not real...it was a story.
Do you recall what the AI fakers had the fake Professor Hanson saying that differed from hus typical take on things? Curious.
