Henyard promotes 'Tha New Wave' on Facebook; ex-colleagues to change pleas

The former mayor of south suburban Dolton and Thornton Township supervisor appears to have stepped away from politics, at least for the time being.

Tiffany Henyard surfaced on Facebook over the weekend with a video from what she described as the soft opening of her clothing store called "Tha New Wave."

"I'm back!" she told viewers. "Well, I never went anywhere, but look at what I've been doing!"

For more than ten minutes, viewers saw her tending a barbecue grill during a grand opening party, and giving a tour of her boutique.

"We want you to feel like you're a king-slash-queen when you come up in here," she said, mentioning brands including Supreme and Puma. She then highlighted the store's subtitle: "'From Ashes To Icon.' Yep, that's me. And that's you. So come support!"

...snip...

But a source in Dolton confirms to WBBM Newsradio that Henyard, who lost her bid for re-election after federal authorities launched an investigation into Dolton's finances, moved to Georgia about two months ago.

And her website says the store's in Dolton, but a comparison of Google Street View images with the background of Henyard's video reveals it's actually in a strip mall in Atlanta, in a storefront once rented by a dance studio.

Was wondering what Tiff was up to. Article from last year but couldn't find the exact date. So now she's running a hair salon in Atlanta.

Melanin

When I lived in Texas the feds sent people from New Orleans after hurricane Katrina and gave them boat loads of free cash. They would raid the local thrift stores, get some garbage fixtures, and get free rent in the worst dumps in town. All they had to do was say they started a business and the money flowed in. They were completely shameless about it. However one family did open up a legit soul food restaurant that was owned by the sweetest woman you’d ever meet and the Po Boys were outstanding.

She should be giving away clothes for free to pay back all she stole while in office.
