Oh yeah, won’t ever forget that one. Watched it all unfold here. I think I saw Buckhead’s original post within minutes and knew he was spot on, totally on to something. I had lived the PC revolution and had been around manual typewriters, electric typewriters, dot matrix printers, daisywheel printers, and laser printers over a quarter century, during much of which time I was involved in serious professional document production. I knew and understood the technologies. I instantly knew Buckhead was right, that the memo was fake. Documents of that type from the era the memo was supposed to be from were invariably fixed pitch from typewriters. Microspacing was only done on high-end printing.

The coup de grace was when someone took early 2000s MS-Word on default settings and produced an identical document with a microspaced font. The *.gif that went back and forth from the Rathergate document, to the MS-Word document, in perfect overlay, said it all, proved even to Dem idiots that the Rathergate document was an anachronistic forgery, they could no longer deny it.
